Hello, I am Alejandro Velez! I created this website with the idea of sharing my experiences, stories, and awards with purpose of inspiring the community. I want to continue helping the people so they can overcome the achievements and dreams I have obtained. My biggest dream is to become president of Mexico making an impact in the country and in my city. I am from the border cities of the (656) and (915), and I am here to give back the opportunities that were given to me once.

Summit Participant ~ (March 2020)
Bloomberg Summit is a highly selective program that took place in the offfices at San Francisco in which I participated at development workshops, conferences with executives, and network with professionals for future employment

Youth Deputy ~ (November 2019)
Parlamento Juvenil Consultivo was a parlamient of a week where I held the role of a Deputy representing Juarez, Chihuahua. It took place at the Chamber of Deputies in Mexico City to approve and modify a proposal of law. The "Ley General de Juventudes" brings support and stronger institutions for the involvement of the youth in society and politics.

Discovery Participant ~ (October 2019)
American Express Discovery is the first 2 day program developed by the firm for college students that took place in the headquarters at New York City. It included case studies for future projects the company is working at, as well professional workshops and conferences with top executives.
Latino Summit Participant ~ (October 2018)
Goldman Sachs Latino Summit is a 3 day highly selective program that took place in the headquarters at New York City in which I was given the opportunity to take workshops, participate in conferences, and network with professionals for future employment
BOLD Immersion Participant ~ (August 2018)
 
Google BOLD Immersion Program is a 4-day highly selective program all across the United States were only around 50 undergraduate students get selected. It includes professional development workshops, such as interview preparation, resume building, and presentation skills.
Finance Leaders in Technology Workshop ~ (May 2018)
 
Microsoft Finance Leaders in Technology Workshop is a program that takes places in Microsoft HQ at Redmond, Washington in which I am 1 of 25 students selected from all across the United States. It offers workshops with senior leaders from Microsoft to learn more about the culture, mission, finance organization from the company.
Early ID Leadership Program  ~ (April 2018 - May 2018)
 
Citi Early ID Leadership Program is a 1-to-1 mentorship program in which I was assigned to an investment banker from Latin America industry to learn about the mission, culture, and goals from the company. As well having the materials to learn more about investment banking with workshops and senior leaders currently working at Citi.

Student Research Intern ~ (September 2019 - Present)
UTEP Asset Management & Development is a deparment at the University of Texas at El Paso where I work as an intern. By building relationships it capitalizes on philanthropic opportunities, and leverage assets (including the management of more than 130 real estate assets) to advance, support, and sustain the University’s mission.  
Private Equity Summer Analyst ~ (June 2019 - August 2019)
Clarion Partners is a real estate private equity firm with $53 billion assets under management, I interned at Los Angeles, California. It was a rotational program in the teams of acquisitions and portfolio, where I spent time performing quantitative and qualitative analyses, creating economic models for client reporting, and a summer project for an office asset.

Councilor ~ (March 2019 - Present)
Instituto Municipal de la Juventud is a governmental institute in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua where I have been appointed by the local government to be voice of the youth in the city by working directly at monthly meetings with the city mayor and public officers from congress to create projects, events, and laws for the citizens
Program Fellow ~ (March 2019 - Present)
Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT) is a program where I have been selected as one of 350 for an 18-month professional development for high-achieving diverse talent. I have completed business case studies and intensive projects to hone analytical, quantitative and communication skills
Delegate ~ (January 2019 - April 2019)
US-Mex FoCUS is a student initiative that takes place in Stanford and ITAM (Instituto Tecnológio Autónimo de México) dedicated to promoting U.S.-Mexico relations by fostering communication and mutual understanding among future leaders of the U.S. and Mexico. FoCUS invites 30 outstanding students from the U.S, and Mexico to become Delegates and work on collaborative projects 
Global Risk Assurance Summer Intern ~ (June 2018 - July 2018)
 
PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) I interned at the New York office with the START internship program in which I was exposed to the 3 divisions of Advisory, Assurance, and Tax by assisting in several team projects with partners, principals, and staff from the company while using problem solving, analytical, research, and organizational skills.

Finance Scholars Program is a student investment fund dedicated to educating members and providing practical application of financial theory. I was selected to research undervalued stocks to assist in managing a diversified portfolio composed of 114 sectors with an estimated initial capital of $100,000 to achieve a 5 year target goal of $1,000,000

Soñar Despierto is a community service group in which we focus in helping kids of low-income families who have been struggling in their childhood. We plan big events each semester to provide this kids opportunities to have fun and receive support. I am in charge of spreading the word of our mission as well recruiting volunteers.

Law Offices of Michael J. Gopin, PLLC is a law firm which provides legal representation to those injured in Texas and New Mexico. As a summer legal intern, I have worked within the offices to provide assistance to the clients for a better case regarding their injuries.

Rotaract Club Juarez Frontera is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young men and women ages 18 to 30 to develop leadership, professional experience, and community service. As International Services Director I create awareness between the Rotarct clubs from other countries by sharing the local Mexican culture.

U-Opportunity is a student group made up of freshman & sophomore business students from The University of Texas at El Paso - UTEP, whose mission is to help our members collaboratively prepare for their future by looking for internship opportunities, professional programs, or case study competitions.
Supreme Court Justice ~ (August 2016 - May 2017)
 
Student Government Association represents all UTEP students. We provide the official voice through which student opinion may be expressed. We ensure student participation in the University decision-making process. We help to defend the rights of each student and we work together with the administration for the advancement of the University community.

Excel Program allows incoming freshmen the opportunity to be introduced to the working of the Student Government Association as well as the rest of the university. In short, Excel Students will be taught the skills required to become leaders of tomorrow. Accepted students will also aid Senators in projects as well as assisting in SGA events ranging from Homecoming to Banquets.

Association of Latino Professionals For America student chapter at The University of Texas at El Paso is one of the largest business student organizations on campus, and a part of one of the largest professional organizations for Latinos in the nation. ALPFA creates opportunities, adds value, helps the community while empowering and developing Latino men and women as leaders of character for the nation in every sector of the global economy.

Juarez Despierta is a student-run nonprofit organization dedicated to community service and to help students find academic opportunities. I have given conferences in local high schools to teach about the balance in a person that colleges are looking for a student. With Juarez Despierta I want to give back the opportunities that were given to me.
Volunteer ~ (October 2015 - Present)
 
Association of Parents of Kids with Cancer and Leukemia  assists families through Mexico in obtaining medicine and treatment for all types of childhood cancers. I volunteer by recycling garbage and separating it so it can be sell to pay the treatment of the children.
